[when the Sphere turns on, as it is wont to do at the most inappropriate times, it shows...the Doctor fast asleep somewhere in the forest, his body lying in the mud where a fallen log used to be until it disappeared out from under him. he, however, is very much unconscious and unaware of the sudden loss of his resting place or of his favourite tie from right around his neck. the past week's events have driven him to such a point of exhaustion--both physical and very much mental--that even the Time Lord couldn't resist succumbing to that bothersome need to let his body rest.]

[however, there's a sudden hiss of static and a couple clicking noises as an audio recording, which he made in a moment of foresight in case he did pass out, begins to play:]

"Curious things, this weather, that ship, and Commander Orion and his crew, aren't they? I could say I'm surprised by the passenger manifest--but I'm not. Though, I am interested to see if that list is updated when we get any other new arrivals after this point. Something tells me that whomever or whatever's behind this is far from finished. Makes me wonder if...

Anyway, what concerns me right now is what he said about two months ago and an unforeseen emergency... Now, I don't know about some of you, but...my memories of this ship go back much farther than that. And I never heard of any such man named Commander Orion until he did his first broadcast two weeks ago. As far as the unforeseen emergency goes, well. I'll explain later."


[Filtered message to those "questioned" a few nights ago:]
"Now...no amount of apologising can or will ever change the fact that what I did to you was both cruel and a violation of your privacy. I had no right doing what I did, even if at the time it felt like the right thing that had to be done.

I'm the Doctor and I save people, worlds, and entire universes; that's what I do. Only my methods, this time, were out of line and twisted by the atmosphere of paranoia sweeping throughout the planet.

But...what's done is done. I've broken the bonds of trust with those I knew and with those I'd yet to meet properly. If you wanted to seek revenge on me for what I did or run in the other direction if you see me, then do so.

Just know that I'm sorry, so very sorry for what I did."


[Filtered to Ollie and Lara:]
"And to you two, especially. I know I've already apologised to you, Ollie, but you wouldn't be in the state you're in if I hadn't tied you up. Don't argue with me further about this, either.

Lara...well, you know what I mean to say."

[the message ends, and he's none the wiser of it having played as he turns onto his side.]

[her voice cuts through his slumber and he wakes up, but doesn't open his eyes.]

Hrm? [his voice is thick and slightly slurred] You're not going to punch a sleeping man, are you?

[stumbles upon the doctor and leaves a care package consisting of a bundle of leaves frozen to be used as a cold compress, and a pile of chestnuts gathered from the forest.]

[when he does finally open his eyes, he's surprised to find the parcel waiting for him and wonders who could have left it for him.]

[when he wakes up, she's pacing throughout the forest, very conspicuously not watching the sphere out of the corner of her eye.]

[sleepily opens it, picking up the bundle of chilled leaves and pressing it to his forehead. it feels nice against his skin.]

[is definitely stirring now from the voices in the Sphere, and opens his eyes to see Klavier's hologram watching him--and he looks away, that guilty feeling back in the pit of his stomach again.]

[he's aware now that the Sphere has been on and he glances up from his resting spot on the ground, seeing Lyle's hologram watching him. he gives a little wave of his hand.]

Only forty? Felt more like fifty or sixty to me. Possibly thirty. [sits up, the mud squelching as he moves. he makes a face and gives his arm a flick.] Although, that might have been far too many winks in the first place...
