[not too long after his conversation with Orion came to end, he immediately set about gathering parts to create a special scanner that could detect the energy stamps of console activity, as Orion so kindly put it. so far, he's managed to completely cannibalise both sides of his suite's barcode scanner, the remaining items not used by the TARDIS--leaving only one functioning heating coil for tea of course, as well as the fridge--and a maintenance robot he caught trying to repair his barcode scanner and later dismantled.

currently, he sits in the living area of his suite, all these parts spread around him in what looks to be utter chaos, but makes complete and rational sense to him. he has his glasses on with an attachment to the right side that contains various additional lenses for close-up detail work--and wears an expression of complete concentration and is seemingly unaware of anyone else in the room. until he looks up at those in the room with him.]

How are the rest of you lot coming? I think I have everything from Orion's list here to create what we need, but there's a few ways we can go about it. I'm just about done with mine, I think. Need to do a couple calibration tests. This...hasn't been made easy with all the strange physics defying anomalies--and frankly, I would've been done long before now [doesn't bother to hide his annoyance in regards to that.]

[he stares at the scene playing out but says nothing, not wishing to miss a word, but finds he's too far away to hear what the people in white are saying, so he moves from his vantage point in the orange hallway, entering the bay. his eyebrows knit together as he nears them and still he can't hear anybody else but Ganymede. soon enough, however, the scene fades away and as it does, he reaches for his Sphere, still standing in that particular auxiliary bay, and turns the device on. by the time he has it on, the scene's completely gone. surely someone else had to have seen it!]

Well...that was rather enlightening. Seems our good Captain was up to something after all.

[mutters, looking away] If only I could've heard what those other two said...

Did anybody else happen to see that? Did that show up anywhere else on the ship?

[ooc: From here, the Doctor's going to try to organise people to be on different levels of the ship to catch Ganymede's other appearances--well, once he learns that you had to be there to see that scene, that is...]

[He almost doesn't give in to sleep, figuring he can put it off a while longer, but the past few days have been mentally draining for him. Battling one's own inner demons and fears can do that to you, especially if you've been avoiding them for hundreds of years. After seeing others nod off without a incident--and after turning over what he saw in the broadcast in his mind, compiling all that with what he's seen and heard so far about the Captain and Commander--he finally decides that perhaps he'll close his eyes for a short kip. Nothing too long; just enough to renew some of his mental energies.

When he awakes, however, he expects to see the expanse of the library, shelves lined with holobooks and the like, but instead finds himself looking on a sight he hasn't seen in nine months.]

Now I'm finally where I belong )

[Well, this is a little different than he expects. There's the Doctor waking up in a very normal cubicle, in a very normal office building, and next to a stack of very boring and normal papers--order forms, VATs, etcetera--what's that? Oh yes, those are bills. Plain, old, ordinary bills. He's even wearing a grey suit that's cut a little looser than his normal ones.

He picks some of them up, flipping through and seeing names of companies he doesn't recognise, but they're all for ordinary utilities and the like--things he doesn't have to pay for in the TARDIS. Swivelling in his black office chair now, he looks around his very plain, grey cubicle. There's nothing on the walls, not even a photograph or calendar, only a placard with the name "John Smith" pressed into the plastic in white lettering.]

How disappointing. I thought I was far more creative than that! Not even a single--

[Suddenly, the phone rings, interrupting that train of thought. Eyeing it, he picks it up cautiously and presses the receiver to his ear, but before he can even open his mouth, the person on the other line begins to speak, making his eyes widen in shock.]

'Will you walk in to my parlour,' said the Spider to the Fly... )

[ooc: Um, I'm so, so sorry for the tl;dr. I don't blame you if you don't read it all... Just skip to the end for the fun bits? >.>;]

[when the Sphere turns on, it shows him sitting in an office somewhere on Level 12, hands covering his face and muffling his mutterings. his knuckles are bloody and the two fingers on his left hand still move with an odd detachment like they're simply along for the ride and not being controlled by him. he's not showing it, but those nerve endings in his burnt hand have started to come back--something he hoped wouldn't come around until much later.]

[when he finally does remove his hands, he doesn't look all that different than he did a few days ago. no dark circles, yawning, or even hand tremors even with his recent assault on the wall behind him; his hands are as steady as ever. it's the dark, acerbic look in his eyes that tell a different story. he might not need the sleep, but that doesn't mean he isn't frustrated as hell.]

There has to be a way of helping them. I'm just not finding it. Medications, hypnosis, meditation, not even--! None of it! And if they don't get some sleep soon, they'll... [he trails off, not wishing to think of the people he knows and cares for dying from something so easily preventable.]

If only there were some way to get to that man! [he's aware of the Sphere being on now.] Say what you will, Orion. You talk of saving "them", well my friend, talk can only get you so far! And that's saying nothing about the riddles and endless games you and Ganymede force us to play! For all your talk about him and blaming the man for what's happened, you two are terribly alike. Perhaps his madness had grabbed hold of you before you evacuated the ship, I wonder.

[laughs bitterly] How foolish of me. It's not like you're going to respond to this or anything else we say to you, is there Orion? If I could only get to you...

[night has fallen once again on Eos, and one man who has spent far too much time listening to voices in the dark depths of the forest has finally emerged from the tree-line. amazingly, he looks slightly more put together than he has in past days. his tie is straight, tightened snugly in place, and his shirt tails are tucked neatly into his suit. every physical detail about his normal state of dress is meticulously in order.

but if one were to shine a light on his face, they'd see that those kind, ancient eyes of his no longer shine with the same lustre. they dart about, watching the spectres in his vision encourage and beckon him out towards his shelter he'd abandoned days ago. quietly he slips in, and stuffs certain supplies he feels he needs into his pockets.

finally, he reaches for the sphere, turning it on. he gives his tie one last little adjustment, a mad grin growing on his face, and then leans in towards the device and whispers:]

I'm on to you.

[and he clicks it off soon after that, and wanders out of his shelter. he's got a busy night ahead.]

[ooc: Okay! So, the Doctor's completely off his rocker now and off to 'question' people. Like I said before, let me know in like the subject line of a comment to this if you'd like to participate in his more...intense questioning or not. And if you have no idea what I'm talking about, this post has just about all the details, as well as my contact info.]
