[not too long after his conversation with Orion came to end, he immediately set about gathering parts to create a special scanner that could detect the energy stamps of console activity, as Orion so kindly put it. so far, he's managed to completely cannibalise both sides of his suite's barcode scanner, the remaining items not used by the TARDIS--leaving only one functioning heating coil for tea of course, as well as the fridge--and a maintenance robot he caught trying to repair his barcode scanner and later dismantled.

currently, he sits in the living area of his suite, all these parts spread around him in what looks to be utter chaos, but makes complete and rational sense to him. he has his glasses on with an attachment to the right side that contains various additional lenses for close-up detail work--and wears an expression of complete concentration and is seemingly unaware of anyone else in the room. until he looks up at those in the room with him.]

How are the rest of you lot coming? I think I have everything from Orion's list here to create what we need, but there's a few ways we can go about it. I'm just about done with mine, I think. Need to do a couple calibration tests. This...hasn't been made easy with all the strange physics defying anomalies--and frankly, I would've been done long before now [doesn't bother to hide his annoyance in regards to that.]

Soon. I was in about to start my final testing phase when you arrived.

Start work on another. We're going to need quite a few of these to go around. [he lists off the things he had to use according to the list Orion gave him earlier.]

[nods, doing as he instructed, humming quietly as she does so]

[waits a minute before he asks:] So, where had you gone?

[hisoldgirl]

[sets her jaw, then sighs] Level Three.

[bit_impossible]

[well that gets his attention! he snaps his head up, eyeing her intently] Were you able to get through to there?

[hisoldgirl]

[doesn't answer -- which is answer enough, really]

[bit_impossible]

[his excitement fades and he slumps in his seat] I see. Well, can't blame you for trying. At least we're not getting shot at any longer.

[hisoldgirl]

...I suppose.

[bit_impossible]

You suppose? [frowns] Damn lasers ruined a suit of mine. [even as he says it, he can still feel those wounds healing underneath the bandages hidden by the button-up shirt he wears.]

I can stop something shooting at me. I can be effective. I cannot be so when it is a door that refuses to open regardless of conditions.

[he sits up, concerned] Have you been hurt at all?

[hisoldgirl]

[like she'd answer that truthfully] I am well.

[bit_impossible]

Well then. So am I.

[hisoldgirl]

[and you get a waspish look for that one]

[just grins cheekily]

[glares, then grabs her things and goes to work on her device in another part of the room. how's them apples?]

[pouts at her] Fine, go ahead.

[hisoldgirl]

[you started it] It is easier to work without distractions.

I agree. I think there's plenty of distraction-less space in the bedroom.
