[when the Sphere turns on, it appears as though it's caught him in the middle of a bath, water dripping off his wet hair onto naked shoulders. only, a moment later, the Sphere pulls back a little to reveal a large length of silken brown, blue, and white striped fabric that once was his tie set around something that looks suspiciously like a blue tea cup. in fact, it is, especially if the giant tea spoon peeking out from underneath the tie and the giant tin filled with English Breakfast tea is any indication.

in truth, he's not exactly sure what he thinks about being able to take a bath in his tea cup. he'd rather be drinking his tea, not sitting in the water he intended to use for it. from the displeased expression on his face, he's rather annoyed at the Sphere for catching him in his current predicament. he doesn't bother to mention Ganymede; he's already made his complaints to the Captain.]

Well, I can definitely say I've never done this before. Can check it off my list--though, I'll have to add it to the list then check it off. [mutters] And I've never worn my tie like that before...

[he sighs, slinging his wet arms over the edge of the tea cup, his feet poking up out of the water on the other side.] This new height is very inconvenient. I wanted to modify my Sphere today, but I can't even carry my sonic screwdriver without help. [from off-screen, there's a little squeak, the tone robotic and tinny, followed by a couple others.] Yes, yes, I know you have a job to do, but you're helping me out! That's your job for right now.

Anyway, where was I? [pauses for a moment, running a hand through his hair and ignoring the continued squeaks of protest from off-screen.] Oh yes, being inconvenienced. I rather think that's a theme Ganymede likes to use in these games of his. Orion does a good enough job dabbling in them himself, though he plays those off as us doing him a favour, or us needing to do something so he can help us. Fat lot of good he's been so far. Let him on-board and his father'll turn up dead again--and where will our answers be then? At the end of another black hole?

[smiles, resting against her arm.] I do.

[and he waits until they're near the transportation pad and raises his barcoded hand above his head, ready to be lifted up to the scanner.]

[lifts him as usual, humming quietly in the back of her throat as she pulls him back down to her and hops on the transmat, heading toward the shoppe on Level 15]

[admittedly, her humming sounds odd at that pitch, like she's switched on the bass and dialled down the treble. still, he finds her music comforting.]

Ah! There's a toy shop about five stores down on the right here. I think I saw enough dolls and other toys that should have clothing I can wear. I'm about the perfect size, I think.

[nods and hurries along toward said store, pushing open the door with her shoulder and making a beeline toward the doll department, lips pursed as she looks over everything]

I still believe this to be a waste of time.

You might, sure, but I'll feel a little better having some clothes on. I am particularly fond of them.

[spots something on a nearby shelf, a large display dollhouse set in between two cases.] Oh, set me down there, if you would.

You are particularly fond of a great many things you need not be.

[still, she does as instructed, wandering away a bit to look at some of the other toys while the Doctor rummages]

[he pretends he didn't hear that; he knows it's true.

soon, he finds a male doll wearing a T-shirt bearing a big snap in the back and trousers that are far too long for his legs (and also bearing a strip of Velcro in the front), but seeing as his other options all involved skirts of some sort, he opts for that outfit and simply rolls up the trouser legs.]

Well...[he makes a face, adjusting his clothes. nothing fit right whatsoever.] It's been a while since I've "gone commando", and I'm now remembering why.

And I think I'll have a chat with those doll makers to at least make them anatomically correct. Nobody's legs are that long. Well, not any human's.

[is still rummaging about herself, though she wanders back in time to hear him talk. she also thinks you look ridiculous, Ten :|]

You are not a soldier, Doctor, nor are you dressed as one. [blinks, just watching him] Is it that important to chastise a dollmaker for something so mundane as that? What sense is there in making them anatomically correct? Should the Autons invade again, it would give them an advantage.

I didn't mean it in that sense, old girl. It's a phrase humans use when they're--well, never mind. I'm not a soldier.

And for your information, it is necessary. [for his own pride, in all honesty.] Besides, the Autons would take advantage of any doll, anatomically correct or no.

[hisoldgirl]

You have never cared for the anatomical accuracy of dolls in the past. I cannot believe you feel it necessary now, beyond your own indignation at wearing trousers which do not fit. [sniffs] Yes, but a human body that is proportional will always be stronger than one which is not. I was looking at some other dolls here. The female's body is anatomically impossible. Should an Auton attempt to take it over, the doll would snap in half under its own propulsion.

[bit_impossible]

[he wanders back over to the edge of the shelf, and wags a finger at her] And you wonder why we've hardly seen many femininely endowed Autons.

[hisoldgirl]

Not particularly, no. I was simply making an observation.

Oh, I see how it is.

Well, in any case, these clothes ought to do for now. Don't suppose you'll be joining me? I spotted a lovely dress earlier that might fit you.

I have no particular interest in wearing garments, no. I want to explore the ship now that we have access to areas we were unable to fit in before.

[bit_impossible]

[sighs] Fine, fine. Just this once, alright?

Let's get going. [raises his arms slightly, assuming the position.]

We shall see.

[takes him in her arms, holding him to her chest as she hums contentedly and makes her way out of the toy store]

We need schematics of the ship's ducts in order to get where we need to go.

[bit_impossible]

[whoa that humming's strong from his point of view, still relaxing, but wow.]

Well...[pauses for a second; he feels like he's at a concert with the amps turned up to eleven.] We, uh, at least know that the library is useless. Yes, waste of time going there. Perhaps the Spheres will tell us something.

[hisoldgirl]

I had not considered that. [looks around for her own sphere -- which is hovering quite a ways above her head] I cannot reach it, Doctor.

[bit_impossible]

No? [whistles to his and it zooms within arm's reach of him.] Use mine instead.

[hisoldgirl]

[gives him an odd look] Mine is significantly more stubborn. It never does as I ask. [and now she's searching for schematics and! nothing] Cruel, resentful ship! Why will you not assist me?

[bit_impossible]

I've...come to an understanding with mine... [more like he's tinkered with it enough times.]

[though, he isn't surprised to see that the ship's not allowing them to show.]

Perhaps Ganymede's removed them from the system entirely.

I see. [note to self: tinker more]

To what purpose? No, it needs no answer. [sighs] I suppose there is nothing for it, then. We need simply explore.

In that case, I say we go down. Haven't gone down in a while.
