He took a sip of his own tea and shrugged. "Well," he said, a smile playing at the corners of his lips. "I originally thought I was rescuing a dog from a miserable dungeon. But I doubt anyone who wanted pettings and scratches can be all that dangerous. After all, I did give you full reign of my kitchen. You could have decided to attack and kill me with a knife, steal whatever you needed from my ship including food, and then run away like nothing had happened.
"But here you are drinking tea--and no doubt nursing a massive stomach upset. Plus I'm rather curious as to why you were there in the first place, so curiosity's a factor here as well."
