[curfew's just ending and where is he? in his suite like an obedient passenger, except he's not chomping on his bit to leave as usual, no, not today. when the sphere turns on, he's standing in the bathroom, the door closed, and wearing only just a pair of pyjama bottoms as he hangs his head over the sink. his face remains hidden from view as water droplets slide down his hair and trickle down the tip of his poor swollen nose. wet hands clutch white-knuckled at the edges of the sink while goose pimples run up bare arms and down his naked torso as he just stands there for a moment longer, oblivious to the transmission.

with his back still to the sphere, he reaches for a towel, gripping it awkwardly with his thumb and tries pinning the material between it and the glove-like cast on his left hand. after fumbling with it for a moment, he shifts his body and grabs at it with his good hand, muttering something under his breath as he throws the towel over his head. it's right then, however, as he's drying his hair that he catches the sphere in the mirror's reflection--and how he can tell that it's on when it looks like a miniature sun, well, it's probably best not to ask. probably wouldn't give a straight answer anyway.

and whether he'll admit if he's been to the curious window on Level 23 or not is anybody's guess.]

[raises an eyebrow at him] Some things shouldn't be tried at all.

Well, whatever it was, it fixed me right up! And yes, I checked with R2 before I left the hospital. [doesn't see any need to let the Doctor know Riku cautioned him to rest up to help him recover from the trauma of the injuries]

Certain things, no. [but for his TARDIS, he'll do anything.]

Did you now? [arches an eyebrow at that, his look far more sceptical than the one aimed his way.]

[frowns disapprovingly, trying to decide whether to confront the Doctor about it or not]

Yeah, I did! Don't give me that look. You already made it very clear what you would do if I tried to leave again without getting that thing's okay.

[pretends he doesn't see that frown.]

[and just smiles instead] Good! I'm sure there's a recovery period where that's involved, but at least I don't have to yell at you to get back to the hospital again. I take it you're already back in your room?

I had a long enough "recovery period." And 'course I am! Where else would I be? [it is only just the end of curfew, after all]

Oh. Good point... [oddly enough, he hasn't been noting the time, not this night.]

[frowns at that; it's not at all like the Doctor to seem so distracted--not when there isn't some new item or creature or scientific gadget to focus on. reaches up to his sphere, setting a filter] Doctor. What is it?

[sighs, sitting down on the edge of the bathtub] If you really must know...I went to look at it.

[frowns; he'd worked that much out, and he's glad the Doctor admitted it, but it's still not good news by any means...]

And you looked too long.

What do you think?

[sighs] I think you're trying to find a way to stop the nightmares. [so he's experimenting on himself...not a pleasant thought, but Oliver can understand why he's doing it]

There you'd be correct. And I figured I was about due for some rest anyway. Well...[smiles weakly] You can see how well that all worked out.

[hesitates before asking, but he needs to know] Was it like what the TARDIS saw? Is everyone seeing things burning?

[his face darkens] No. The burning didn't come until later.

[frowns] And you know what you saw.

[nods, his voice a whisper] Did you want to know what I saw?

Only if you want to say, Doctor.

[figures he might as well since he's said this much already.]

Countless bodies; people I knew and loved, everyone I've ever met. All of them dead, and all I could feel was their warm blood dripping down my face and neck, my hands coated and shaking. I felt myself sinking down in their blood as it rose up over my ankles, up my calves, until it was up to my mouth and I couldn't swim. Couldn't scream for help because I'd already killed everyone. [sounds completely disgusted with himself.]

[stares for a moment, horrified by what he's just heard; swallows hard] I'll be right there. Put the kettle on.

[he blinks for a second, surprised at the suggestion, but then he simply nods]

[shuts off the sphere, and a moment later is politely knocking on the Doctor's door--he doesn't want to catch him off-guard, not now]

[greets him at the door. he still hasn't bothered to put a shirt on or anything.] Ollie. [moves aside so his friend can come in.]

Hey. I brought biscuits. [gestures with a container he's holding and steps inside]

[smiles weakly and leads him into the kitchen where the kettle's already on] What kind?

It's a mix. Oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip. I forget what else... [looks down at the package] Want some?
