[the extremely happy and carefree disposition that's 'plagued' him has finally worn away, and he's thinking clearly now. so clearly in fact, he's wandering deeper into the forest and uses the excuse of having more of the planet to explore to keep himself from running into anyone else.]

[the sphere hovers a good distance in front of him and he either doesn't notice that it's on or doesn't care to acknowledge it. gone is the smile that made his cheeks ache. his face is blank, but his eyes tell a different story. after a few long moments of walking, he finally looks up. he's done deciding what he should say.]

Ollie, Lara, everyone I talked to, just forget what I said since that sun came out. None of that's important now, so just forget it. [points a finger at the hologram screen] I mean it.

[he looks away from the sphere, muttering] Well...there are some things I do still mean. Abel, I will write that letter for you. I meant every word, especially to you, Amaterasu.

But Rangiku...I--[he falters for a brief second.] I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I couldn't help you or even think about wanting to help you in the state of mind I was in.

Despite everything that happened...I want that feeling back.

[pauses for a moment, thoughtful]

You knew everyone would just tell me it wasn't my fault.

Ohhh, it was just a hunch...

What about you, Doctor? Are you okay?

I'm fine. [which is time lord for 'not really at all']

[frowns] Doctor... [pauses, not quite sure how to say this] I meant what I said. About you. All of it.

[he smiles just a bit] Thanks Ollie.

[nods and smiles in relief, fishing for a joke] Of course, I also meant what I said about how my dad would punch you! Oh, and my mum kissing you. She does that. [makes a face]

Hmmm, I think I will stay in the TARDIS then.

[laughs] Of all the things in this universe, Doctor, the last one I would have expected to scare you is mums!

Just a safety measure. Besides, the TARDIS might need me to work on something. She's been sorely neglected all these months without me.

Neglected? But you've been taking care of her here!

Ohh, no wait, she's from your past, too.

In that case, I'm sure she'll be so thrilled to see you that you won't be able to get away!

Well, she's used to being separated from me for long periods of time. Trouble is, I don't remember what kind of state I left her in before I came here. I could've been doing...anything! Diagnostic scan, recalibration, and any number of operation!

You're worrying too much, Doctor. You know the TARDIS! I'm sure she's fine--aside from wondering what happened to you.

[grumbles, pinching the bridge of his nose] I know, I know.

[is quiet for a moment--the whole experience has clearly drudged things up for both of them]

Hey, um...I've got some leftover biscuits. Homemade! We could...I don't know, eat biscuits and explore? The planet this time, since we've already been through the ship.

[laughs!] Oliver Day, survival baker! How did I miss out on those?

[he stops his walking and turns around, heading back towards the field.] I think exploring will be a very good idea. I've already gone much deeper into the forest than I've been before, but I do have some things I want to salvage off that ship. Last search for viable tech, scraps of wire, that kind of thing.

[makes a face] Everything was a bit mad at the time...

[blinks] Wait, deeper in? What happened to the gas?

So, in a time when we're all slowly losing ourselves, you think to bake biscuits! You're something else, Ollie boy.

But the gas is gone now. Well, farther back, at least, much farther. I can still smell traces of it in the air, but it's harmless back here now. The wind was blowing in just the right way...

Hey, you're making me sound domestic! I was just... [smiles to himself, shaking his head in embarrassment] ...trying to see if I could make Riku smile, actually.

Wow. All right, as long as you're taking responsibility when Lara has a go at me for going back in there!

If she's still speaking to me, anyway...

[in a teasing voice] Awww, how sweet of you! Wear a frilly apron too?

Ohhh, I think she will. Why wouldn't she? S'not like you said anything to make her punch--[stops, finally noticing a bruise on Oliver's face and suddenly bursts into laughter and laughs loudly for a good couple minutes]

Oh yes, of course, Doctor. Do that regularly, me.

...and just what is so funny?

[wipes away a tear] Oh, it's just good to know I'm not the only one to feel Lara's right hook. Though, looks like she got you pretty good there!

[rubs his jaw self-consciously] You can still tell!?

Yeah, well, I definitely deserved it at the time...

Oh yeah, nice little bruise. Can't miss it.
