[he blinks, looking around, very bewildered with the sudden change of environment. the room didn't look a thing like the Academy!]

Ummm...where is everyone? Koschei? Hello? [notices the sphere] Anyone at all?

[and then he notices that he's wearing an over-sized pinstripe suit, with sleeves that come down to his knees and the trouser legs are pooled around trainers that are far too big for his feet. he steps out of them, dragging the trouser legs around the floor until those fall off too. he sighs, slipping the tie off around his head--really, what need does he have for it now--and uses it to secure the trousers around his waist and quickly rolls up the trouser legs until he can see his feet.]

Well. If no one from the Academy is responding then...maybe I'm not there any more... [lets that fact sink in. a grin slowly grows on his face and he suddenly starts jumping around, cheering boisterously, and completely disregarding the fact that his trouser legs are quickly coming undone.]

[blinks] Well, yes. I think so. Uh...how old are you? You said you came from an Academy?

[bit_impossible]

Let's see...I've been at the Academy for a couple years now, I believe. So, about ten or eleven, give or take a month or two. Yes, that sounds about right.

So what's your name? Since you seem to know mine. Why do you know mine anyway? I've never met you before. Certainly don't seem like someone who'd be at the Academy, but why would you be? Since I'm not there anymore! And this isn't the Academy!

[oliverplus]

[stares] Wait, did you say 10 or 11? As in like, really 10 or 11!? Not, you know, 110 or 210 or something?

Um...well, I'm Oliver. And no, I'm not from the Academy. We're on a spaceship--the Crucible. And...wow... [trails off, too dumbfounded to know what to say]

[bit_impossible]

[slightly offended] I'm pretty sure I know my own age...Oliver, was it?

The Crucible?? That doesn't sound too pleasant.

[oliverplus]

Yeah. And...yeah, I guess you would. I just...wow. I mean...you are a Time Lord, right?

It's not. You look like you're in your room. Don't leave without somebody else, all right? This place is getting overrun by animals.

Training to be, actually. S'why I'm in the Academy. Or was. I don't mind a holiday from there.

Ohh, animals, huh? Can't be all that dangerous, besides, I don't really know anyone here, so I couldn't leave with them even if I wanted to. [mutters under his breath] Not yet...

[oliverplus]

Oh. [blinks again] I guess I probably wouldn't mind one if I were you.

No, it is that dangerous! Just... [frowns, ruffling his hair as he thinks] How about I come see you? We'll have dinner or something. Sound good?

[bit_impossible]

[sighs] Fine. As long as you're making it, I suppose I wouldn't mind the company.

[oliverplus]

Great! Then I'll be right there.

[bit_impossible]

What are you going to make, hmm?

[oliverplus]

Well, what would you like? [is on his way out of his room]

[bit_impossible]

Doesn't matter! I'm just curious. [smiles innocently]

[oliverplus]

[still can't quite believe he's having this conversation] Okay, how about hamburgers?

[bit_impossible]

Hamburgers? What's that?

[oliverplus]

[takes a moment to process that, reminding himself that someone who's 10 or 11 probably hasn't done much travelling, although the idea of a Doctor who hasn't travelled much is about as hard to wrap his head around as one who is actually younger than he is]

Never been to Earth? I'll show you, then! Look, I'm here. [knocks on his door]

Nope, only read about--[hears the knock] Oh, you can come in!

[oliverplus]

[opens the door, looking around it a bit uncertainly] Doctor?

[can't keep his jaw from dropping at the reality of a Doctor who is so incredibly young--and small! wow!] Whoa. Hi, Doctor. We should do something about those clothes, huh? [grins]

[bit_impossible]

[waves] Hi Oliver! You're much taller than I thought you would be.

Oh, but a human named Lara is finding me something to wear, so you don't have to worry about that. Especially with all those animals out there.

So these hamburgers... [trails off, looking at oliver in earnest]

[oliverplus]

[resists the urge to reply that he's much shorter than he thought he would be]

Oh, good! Leave it to Lara.

[grins] I brought some stuff, but I'm gonna have to use your kitchen. I promise it'll be great!

Ohh, you have to make it, huh? Is it a terribly long and complicated process?

[oliverplus]

Not really. You can watch, if you want!

Delighted to! [smiles eagerly]

[oliverplus]

Okay, then come with me! [leads him into the kitchen]

[returns a bit later with a burger and chips on a plate] Have you tried it? What do you think?

[bit_impossible]

Very different! [quickly finishes off the hamburger] We don't have anything like this on Gallifrey. [shoves the chips in his mouth like he hasn't eaten in years] What are these things called again?

Chips! You like them? [is eating his own dinner] We can have them again soon, if you want.
