[he stares at the scene playing out but says nothing, not wishing to miss a word, but finds he's too far away to hear what the people in white are saying, so he moves from his vantage point in the orange hallway, entering the bay. his eyebrows knit together as he nears them and still he can't hear anybody else but Ganymede. soon enough, however, the scene fades away and as it does, he reaches for his Sphere, still standing in that particular auxiliary bay, and turns the device on. by the time he has it on, the scene's completely gone. surely someone else had to have seen it!]

Well...that was rather enlightening. Seems our good Captain was up to something after all.

[mutters, looking away] If only I could've heard what those other two said...

Did anybody else happen to see that? Did that show up anywhere else on the ship?

[ooc: From here, the Doctor's going to try to organise people to be on different levels of the ship to catch Ganymede's other appearances--well, once he learns that you had to be there to see that scene, that is...]

[casually he walks through the transformed level 15, evoking memories of his visits to medieval Romania and other villages just like the one he walks through now. he half expects to look up and see a castle silhouette in front of a full moon, clouds hiding the uppermost spires of the castle towers, but alas there is no such thing. instead, a heavy fog rolls in between the spaces of the dilapidated houses so thick he can't see below his waist after a moment. he makes a face at it, shrugs, and continues on.

soon, he's wandering out of the disquietingly empty 'village'. his hearts begin to race in anticipation; he's yet to see any vampires, and if he's going to, now's the time with him venturing out alone. he just wants to test how far the holograms go, what their limitations are. but they still don't appear.]

Oh come on, I know you're there! [tries to not sound annoyed.] Let's see what you're made--

[he cuts himself off, hearing soft laughter in his ear, the laughter so close it feels like it's coming from right behind him, but upon whirling around, he sees nothing but more fog. narrowing his eyes, he steps in the direction he heard the laughter come from.

a second later he hears it again, stronger this time. and again, the voice deeper, more malicious and menacing. a frown crosses his features and he continues to follow the laughter, through the outskirts of 'village' and into a deserted cemetery. his eyes dart around, thinking he's seeing shadows in the fog, and before he knows it, he's broken out into a run chasing after them.]

Stop this invisible nonsense! It's never cute or threatening, no matter what you or anyone else thinks!

[runs unconsciously around a couple grave markers--and through some small ones, but he doesn't know that thanks to the fog--all the while listening to the taunting jeers of the vampires' laughter around him.]

So are you going to come out, or what? Or do I have to--! [suddenly, his foot keeps on falling through the ground he'd been expecting to feel and he falls face first through holographic stone crosses and into the pool.]

[slightly backdated to the morning after this.]

[when the sphere turns on, it shows a rare sight, something people will never, ever see again if he has his way. he looks haggard, hair sticking up every which way--more than it normally would--his shirt tails hanging out and his suit coat's wrinkled like it had been rolled into a ball and tossed somewhere. he's wearing a pair of dark sunglasses over his eyes, the lights on level 15 a little on the bright side for him, and definitely looks like he could use a shave.

he's only now leaving the wet lounge after a night of celebratory drinking with Oliver and Lara. there's a couple tables in there with empty glasses of all sizes stacked haphazardly around a handful of empty bottles that are visible for just a moment, and one table bears the scuff marks from someone's trainers on its surface.

wobbling slightly, he grips his head, groaning slightly, and keeps his other hand against the wall as he makes his way towards the nearest transportation pad. he's only partway there when he stops, a puzzled expression on his face, and mutters hoarsely:]

...Where's my tie?
